Treatment Prices
NHS
Prices are set by the government and depend on individual patient needs. We recommend you attend for a consultation with the Dentist and get a full personal estimate for your own treatment needs.
Information on NHS charges can be found on the NHS Choices website located here:
https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/dentists/how-much-nhs-dental-treatment-costs/
NHS dental charges from 01st April 2026
The charge you pay depends on the treatment you need to keep your mouth, gums and teeth healthy. You will only ever be asked to pay one charge for each complete course of treatment, even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it – either Band 1, Band 2 or Band 3.
If you are not exempt from charges, you should pay one of the following charges for each course of treatment you receive:
Band 1: £27.90
This covers basic care to check your oral health. This includes:
• Dental check-up and advice
• X-rays if needed
• Scale and polish if clinically needed
• Fluoride treatment
• Simple gum care
Band 2: £76.60
This includes everything in Band 1, plus treatments to fix problems, such as:
• Fillings
• Root canal treatment
• Tooth extractions
• Minor oral surgery
• Denture adjustments or additions
• Treatment for gum disease
Band 3: £332.70
This includes everything in Bands 1 and 2, plus more complex treatments, such as:
• Crowns
• Dentures
• Bridges
• Other laboratory-made dental work

Abbeymead Further Information
For information about help with dental charges, including how to claim a refund, see our section on help with health costs.
Any treatment that your dentist believes is clinically necessary to achieve and maintain good oral health should be available on the NHS.
You will not be charged for individual items within an NHS course of treatment. Depending on what you need to have done, you should only ever be asked to pay one charge for each completed course of treatment, even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it. A course of treatment is completed when the treatment listed in your treatment plan has been provided in full.
Most dentists provide both NHS and private dental treatment. Make sure you understand whether you are paying for NHS or private treatment, or a mixture of the two, before treatment begins.
Be aware that being repeatedly late for your treatment sessions or failure to attend appointments may result in the early termination of the course of treatment.
